Teen Takeover 2025

The third annual Teen Takeover transformed the Center for the Arts campus into a student-run creative showcase, and once again, it reminded all of us exactly why we do what we do at Teton Music School.

The Night Was Theirs

Every corner of The Center was buzzing. Students from Jackson Hole High School and Jackson Community School had spent months designing, curating, and producing every piece of the evening — a juried art show, dance videos, a makerspace with hands-on crafts, and an open mic where young voices filled the room. Culinary students from Jackson Hole High School and Central Wyoming College served up soup, desserts, and a hot chocolate bar while guests cast votes for their favorite artworks.

Teen Advisory Board Member Shakynah Mach captured it perfectly: "Teen Takeover is crucial because it lets students collaborate within the community, like Jackson Hole Community School and Teton Music School. Not only that, but the event is well-curated by the students. For example, I do the logos and the posters. The other students make craft tables, the photobooth background, food, music, and more! It's a great event for teens to volunteer and make friends. From art to food, and the music itself. It is all created by students."

Live Music

At 7 p.m., the Theater Lobby became the stage for Teton Music School's teen rock bands.

Musicians aged 11 to 18 took the stage and delivered high-energy sets that had parents dancing and peers crowding the front. This is what we believe in: that music isn't only for the professionally trained or the naturally gifted. It's for every young person who has ever needed a place to be loud, to be creative, to be seen. It's for everyone.

Community, Made Together

Teen Takeover is produced by Center for the Arts together with Teton Music School, and it's made possible through the collaboration of the Teen Takeover Advisory Board, Jackson Hole High School, Jackson Hole Community School, Central Wyoming College, and Dancers' Workshop. That list of partners isn't a footnote — it's the whole point. Music doesn't build community by accident. It takes intention, collaboration, and organizations willing to say: we'll hold the door open and let the young people walk through.

An Invitation

Whether you're 11 or 81, whether you've never touched an instrument or you've been playing for years, Teton Music School exists to bring you into music — to give you a band, a stage, and a community to share it with.
