Rock and Roll and Revelry: Teton Music School’s 80s Birthday Bash

On Saturday, April 27 we celebrated TMS' fifth birthday with a ridiculous Rockin’ Birthday Bash.

The night kicked off with a screening of the 1984 cult classic “This Is Spinal Tap,” known for its hilarious take on rock culture and the iconic line about turning the amps up to 11.

Following the film, the audience was treated to a live performance by Jackson Hole’s own 86, a hair metal tribute band featuring TMS drum instructor Ed Domer. The band’s energetic set brought the house down with classic 80s rock anthems.

Attendees, encouraged to wear their most outrageous 80s ensembles, showcased neon spandex, big hair, and bold accessories, vying for the best costume.

A cash bar kept the party going, while a VIP lounge, sponsored by Osprey Beverages, offered an exclusive, satirical 80s experience for the “Super Fan” ticket holders. The event embodied a true celebration of the era’s flamboyant fashion and rock spirit.

This Rockin’ Birthday Bash highlighted our commitment to community and music education. Founded in 2019, TMS offers music programs for all ages, from toddlers to older adults, fostering a lifelong love for music. Previous events in the anniversary series included a sold-out Taylor Swift tribute, a New Orleans-themed show, and a teen band showcase, each reflecting TMS’s diverse offerings.
